Description

Safehouse is looking for an experienced and strategic Assistant Director of Operations to join our leadership team in Los Angeles. This is a Full Time, On-Site (hybrid/remote Fridays) leadership position, ideal for a seasoned operations or security professional ready to take ownership of an organization's day-to-day performance.

The Assistant Director of Operations supports the oversight of day-to-day operational functions, ensuring efficiency and high levels of productivity across departments. 

This role involves process optimization, cross-functional collaboration, and hands-on leadership of operations and security staff to support the company's overall objectives — not just reacting to problems, but helping prevent them.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Train new hires and provide ongoing training to current staff on procedures, safety, and security protocols.
  • Oversee daily operations, including workflow, shift scheduling, and task assignments for operations and security staff.
  • Provide continuous coaching and performance feedback to staff, including guidance on appearance and conduct.
  • Supervise account managers and guide performance improvement efforts.
  • Manage international job requests from initiation to completion.
  • Coordinate with accounting on expense tracking and vendor invoice processing.
  • Supervise cross-functional teams and provide constructive feedback.
  • Evaluate and improve business procedures to align with organizational objectives.
  • Oversee and enhance customer support processes to improve satisfaction.
  • Develop, update, and enforce company policies and procedures.
  • Manage relationships with external partners and vendors.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and analyze metrics to drive informed decision-making.
  • Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Drive cost-efficiency through strategic resource planning and allocation.
  • Assist in the development and regular review of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Support staff management, including hiring, terminations, and disciplinary actions.
  • Collaborate with department heads to set goals, improve performance, and boost operational efficiency.
  • Attend client meetings and site walkthroughs.
  • Provide on-site support or fill in when staffing gaps occur.
  • Identify and pursue opportunities for new client acquisition.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in an operations or security leadership role (Director, Senior Manager, or equivalent).
  • Strong background in staff supervision, training, and performance management.
  • Experience developing and enforcing SOPs, company policies, and compliance standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, vendor relationships, and cost-efficiency initiatives.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience tracking KPIs and operational metrics.
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Ability to travel locally for client meetings, site walkthroughs, and job sites as needed.
  • Must live in or be willing to commute to the Los Angeles area.
  • Availability for rotating weekend on-call coverage.
  • Must agree to a background check.
  • Must agree to a drug test.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; degree in Business, Criminal Justice, Security Management, or related field preferred.

Schedule Expectations:

  • Maintain in-office availability Monday–Friday:
    • Monday: 8am–2pm
    • Tuesday–Thursday: 10am–3pm
    • Friday: Remote
  • Attend required events and special projects.
  • Be on-call weekends on a rotating basis with the Operations Team.
  • Support coverage needs at job sites and/or assist with executive protection assignments, as needed.

Compensation

Starting salary around $70,000, Based on experience, performance and tenure.
