Position Overview
A respected healthcare facility in Charleston is seeking an experienced Locum Tenens Pediatric Neurologist (MD/DO) to provide specialized neurological care for infants, children, and adolescents. Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and manage a wide range of pediatric neurological conditions, including epilepsy, developmental delays, neuromuscular disorders, headaches, movement disorders, and neurogenetic conditions.
- Conduct outpatient clinic visits, evaluations, and long‑term management plans.
- Provide inpatient consults, rounds, and follow‑up care for hospitalized pediatric neurology patients.
- Interpret pediatric neurological diagnostics such as EEG, EMG, MRI, CT, and lumbar puncture results.
- Collaborate with pediatricians, hospitalists, neurosurgeons, rehabilitation teams, and allied health professionals.
- Communicate effectively with families, offering education and guidance on neurological conditions and treatment plans.
- Maintain accurate documentation and adhere to facility protocols and regulatory standards.
Assignment Details
- Schedule: 24-hour shifts, 1 week per month
- Setting: Inpatient
- Daily Volume: 6-12 patients
- Case Types: Rounding on inpatients, ICU, NICU, ER, and other consults
- Will round with residents
- Must be board-certified
- Paid travel & expenses
Qualifications
- MD or DO with board certification or board eligibility in Pediatric Neurology
- Active state medical license (or ability to obtain)
- Current DEA registration
- Strong diagnostic, consultative, and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a pediatric environment
