Position Overview
A well‑established healthcare organization in New Orleans, LA is seeking an experienced Locum Tenens Podiatrist (MD/DO) to provide high‑quality podiatric care in both outpatient and inpatient settings. Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and treat conditions of the foot, ankle, and lower extremities.
- Perform routine podiatric care, wound care, diabetic foot management, and minor procedures.
- Conduct surgical consultations and perform podiatric surgeries (if required by facility).
- Manage acute and chronic podiatric conditions and develop individualized treatment plans.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including primary care, orthopedics, vascular surgery, and wound care specialists.
- Maintain accurate documentation and adhere to facility protocols and regulatory standards.
- Provide patient education focused on prevention, mobility, and long‑term foot health.
Assignment Details
- Schedule: 8a-5p, 1-2 days per week
- Case Types: Routine diabetic screenings and debridement, treatment of chronic wounds, minor outpatient nail surgeries, fittings, comprehensive foot exams, etc.
- EMR: Athena
- Must be board-certified
- Paid travel & expenses
Qualifications
- MD or DO with board certification or board eligibility in Podiatric Medicine & Surgery
- Active Louisiana medical license (or ability to obtain)
- Current DEA registration
- Experience in wound care or podiatric surgery preferred
- Strong diagnostic, procedural, and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment
