About the Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Senior Automation Engineer to join our Program Technical Office (PTO) and support large-scale pharmaceutical automation projects. This position plays a key role in developing automation standards, providing technical guidance to project teams, and ensuring consistency across multiple automation initiatives.
The ideal candidate will have strong DeltaV Batch experience, a solid understanding of pharmaceutical manufacturing, and experience working in GMP-regulated environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Program Technical Office (PTO) by contributing to automation standards, technical documentation, and engineering best practices.
- Partner with Automation Engineering Leads to develop and maintain automation deliverables used across multiple projects.
- Design, develop, and modify DeltaV Batch software components in accordance with project requirements.
- Provide technical guidance and troubleshooting support to project engineering teams throughout the project lifecycle.
- Collaborate with Automation, Process Engineering, Validation, Digital Plant, and CSV teams to ensure consistent implementation of automation solutions.
- Review automation designs and recommend improvements that align with program standards.
- Assist with developing engineering templates, software standards, and reusable automation solutions.
- Support project execution while ensuring compliance with GMP, GAMP, and Computer System Validation (CSV) requirements.
- Participate in technical reviews, risk assessments, and design discussions.
- Maintain accurate engineering documentation and complete all required training.
Required Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related technical discipline (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum 5 years of industrial automation experience.
- At least 3 years of hands-on experience with Emerson DeltaV Batch DCS.
- Experience supporting automation projects within pharmaceutical or biotechnology manufacturing.
- Strong understanding of:
- DeltaV Batch
- Distributed Control Systems (DCS)
- GMP and cGMP regulations
- Computer System Validation (CSV)
- Batch automation
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with cross-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications - Experience delivering large pharmaceutical automation projects.
- Experience with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), such as Syncade, PAS-X, or PharmaSuite.
- Knowledge of Digital Plant initiatives and automation integration.
- Familiarity with scripting languages (Python, PowerShell, VBScript, or similar).
- Exposure to AI-assisted engineering or automation tools.
- Experience working in regulated pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities.
